About Us

Purchasing Auctions was established in 2009 by Jonathan Rollason, an ex-President of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS). Jonathan has enjoyed a long career in purchasing, holding senior procurement appointments at the London Stock Exchange, Nomura International and the Bankers Trust.

As a purchaser, he saw a market need for a low cost, easy to use, fully hosted reverse auction tool. He decided to develop a simple standalone product to avoid the complexity of all encompassing, intrusive models already available and used in the main by large companies. After 3 years of development and rigorous testing, the reverse auction platform has evolved an intuitive interface and proofing systems which jointly simplify and minimise the potential for error during operation. Its unique standalone capability, simplicity and ease of use make the tool very affordable and hence more universally deployable within smaller purchasing teams and consultancies.

Since its launch in early 2009, Purchasing Auctions has completed several highly successful reverse auctions for commodities ranging from wet labels and computer consumables to everyday requirements such as stationery. The most recent highlight was a "wet labels auction" with an inventory value of well over £1,000,000 at which an overall indicative saving of 31% was achieved.

Free Benchmarking. We continue to offer interested organisations an introductory free stationery benchmarking service. All you need to do is send us your top 10 items by spend and we will estimate the savings you might achieve should you decide to undertake an auction.
